Why study with us

Do You Want To Study with us?

We make education accessible to students from all over the world. Our doors are open to learners of all ages and experience levels, and our mission is to develop individuals, inspire creative passion, and build self-confidence.

At Legacy Leadership, we go a step further - equipping students with the tools to secure democracy, use their voice for courageous leadership, and change the world through powerful storytelling. In an age where social media shapes public opinion and fuels global movements, we help students understand the information war they’re living in - and how to rise above it. Through hands-on training in civic engagement, digital strategy, and narrative power, our students become truth-tellers, change-makers, and future leaders.

We also continue to teach our foundational courses in entrepreneurship and how to succeed in school - because we believe there are levels to success. Before you can lead others, you must first become an inspired, diligent, and disciplined student yourself. At Legacy Leadership, we help you build that foundation - so you can rise, lead, and leave a legacy.

Jen Appel, MS
Somewhere I Read
Jen Appel is a filmmaker, educator, artist, and activist whose work is rooted in a lifelong commitment to unity, expression, and social impact. She began her journey as a concerned global citizen in the second grade - refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance because she found nationalism dangerous. She now finds the pledge of allegiance one of the most moving recitations one can say. However, her early conviction into exploring the merit of patriotism planted the seeds for a career spent exploring the tension between division and belonging in America, a theme she now boldly confronts in her latest media project, Traitor: A Story of Patriots - an unflinching look at America’s unfinished revolution.

Jen studied at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, trained at The Experimental Theatre Wing and Circle in the Square, and received a full scholarship for acting. She went on to found Risk Productions in 1997, creating film, theater, television, and music projects with a mission to inspire and spark change. From directing sold-out stage performances like Yes! Damn it. to co-producing the live-action segments of Blue’s Clues for Nickelodeon, Jen has always brought both vision and purpose to the screen and stage. She is also a musician and a visual artist who works in oil, acrylic, and collage.

As the founder of Legacy Leadership, Jen leads media and education initiatives that aim to secure democracy, empower young leaders, and help citizens understand the social media war they are living in.

Alongside collaborators like Andrea Miller and Deepak Puri, she works to develop innovative, accessible learning tools that blend storytelling, civic training, and creative expression.

Jen is also a certified teacher and learning specialist with over 25 years of experience in both special education and gifted education. She has taught at prestigious schools including The Collegiate School, Marymount, Buckley, and Fairfax County Public Schools, and she continues to work with students across the country. Her unique approach to teaching combines remediation with inspiration, helping students of all abilities uncover their gifts, build confidence, and learn how to learn. Whether she’s in the classroom or behind the camera, Jen Appel’s mission remains the same: to build bridges, nurture genius, and create media and education that move people -and the culture -forward. Jen focuses primarily on filmmaking, and her media projects can be found here:
