Our Mission: At Legacy Leadership Academy, we cultivate and train the next generation of leaders - visionaries, truth-tellers, and changemakers - equipping them with the tools to rise, lead, and serve with purpose. We empower individuals to use their voices through powerful, impactful communication that changes the world for the better and to master the new tools of AI.

From learning how to get ideas to market and amplify the people's voice in our national conversation, to mastering the art of social media and harnessing its true power, to crafting stories that inspire and protect democracy, to helping organizations and institutions better serve their people and clients, to avoiding the many pitfalls found in the dawn of the new AI era, to supporting young leaders in school - we teach you how to speak your truth with clarity, courage, and conviction and how to give your talents to the world generously and with unwavering integrity. 

Our programs support inclusive, purpose-driven leadership for the workplace, schools, the public square, and the global stage. We don’t just prepare people for careers - we prepare them for calling.

We begin training as early as 4th grade and continue up through every stage of life - including supporting those in retirement who are ready to reimagine their future and re-envision their place in the world.

Because leadership isn’t defined by age or title - it’s about showing up fully, wherever you are, and becoming a force for good. At Legacy Leadership Academy, we believe everyone can be a leader - in their home, their school, their workplace, or their community.

That’s why we offer practical strategies for entrepreneurship, education, and personal transformation. With resources, self-paced learning, and real-world application, we help individuals unlock their full potential - so their best self can shine and become a beacon of hope for others.

And for those called to public service, we provide specialized training in earned media and lobbying - arming political candidates and civic leaders with the skills to run bold, effective campaigns that fight for the common good and create lasting change.

Jen Appel is a Curriculum Designer, Educational Consultant, Public Speaking Coach, Speech Writer and Brand and Communication Specialist and has taught and guided students of all ages, as well as top CEOs and business and political leaders. 

Jen is best known for locating, curating and celebrating her clients' unique stroke of genius. She helps both individuals and teams focus their enterprise towards genuine purpose, craft their mission and message and launches people towards their wildest dreams.

In other words - she makes sure you SHINE.

Deepak Puri, a Silicon Valley engineer and executive with 15 years of experience at Oracle, Netscape, and VMware, who holds three software patents and is an expert in software deployment and training, and is the co-founder of Democracy Labs (DemLabs), a SF-based nonprofit that connects new technologies to progressive campaigns and advocacy groups, tests new apps and shares practical guidance on its website, with a focus on free and affordable tools that help candidates and advocacy groups run better campaigns - makes a guest appearance in two of our courses: Citizen Journalism and Social Media for Real Impact and Tech for, We the People. and Citizen Journalism.

Guest teacher: Andrea Miller


Andrea Miller, a nationally recognized voting rights advocate, digital strategist, and civic engagement leader, is the Founding Board Member of the Center for Common Ground, Executive Director of People Demanding Action, and Founding President of the National Women’s Political Caucus of Virginia. A longtime political and IT director, Andrea specializes in earned media strategy, digital organizing, grassroots mobilization, and civic advocacy training. She designs and administers large-scale digital phone banking and texting campaigns and has successfully advocated for legislation at both the federal and state level, with particular expertise in voting rights, climate policy, and the Equal Rights Amendment. From 2013 to 2015, she led the Progressive Round Table on Capitol Hill, convening members of Congress, nonprofit leaders, and activists around pressing civic issues. Andrea was also the Democratic nominee for Virginia’s 4th Congressional District in 2008. She makes a guest appearance in our courses on Earned Media, Lobby Training and Civics for Lobbyists, where she brings decades of real-world experience in advocacy, communications, grassroots organizing, and democratic engagement.
